Angela Sue (Martin) McCullough went to live with Jesus the morning of Monday, November 29, 2021. Sue was born on November 23, 1936, to Eugene F. and Alma Martin in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1955 and began night school at the Oklahoma School of Accounting while working at Spartan Aircraft Company. Sue married Everett D. (Mack) McCullough on December 20, 1957, and their nearly 64 year adventure began. They welcomed their daughter, Cindy, in 1963 and moved to Garden Grove, California, in 1965. They returned to Oklahoma in 1967 and welcomed their sons, Mark in 1967 and Michael in 1968. Sue spent the majority of her working career in the oil business working for Shell Oil, Union Oil, Skelly Oil, acquired by Getty Oil, acquired by Texaco Oil where she retired in 1986. During her work career she continued to take college courses at night and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1984. Never to be idle, Sue and Mack headed back to California to begin a second work career in 1987. Sue quickly became the Senior Financial Analyst at Goldstone Deep Space Tracking Network near Fort Irwin Army Base in the Mojave Desert. In 1997, they retired for the second time, and returned back home to Sapulpa. Sue and Mack loved to travel and seldom went alone. With education in the forefront, family trips and vacations were often planned with stops at historical places. Sue and her family have traveled to 49 states, Mexico, England, Germany, Austria, Italy, and China. She and Mack even traveled to Plains, Georgia to attend former President Jimmy Carter’s Sunday School class. Whether touring a Presidential Library, attending a World’s Fair, or skiing the slopes of Colorado or the Swiss Alps; Sue was always trying to learn something new. The greatest accomplishment of her life was in raising and helping raise her grandchildren – Emily, Ethan, Evan, Everett, Clayton, Reed, and Mason. Education was always important to Sue and she was very proud to not only to have received her Bachelors Degree (which helped her qualify for the position at Goldstone), but also helping her husband obtain his Bachelors, Masters, and many credits toward his Doctorate. Her pride continued knowing that all of her children received their Masters degrees, with an extra Master and Doctorate thrown in for good measure. Sue was a force of nature from the moment she was born. She embodied love and her life focused service to others. She was always active in her church home; teaching Sunday School, Training Union, Girls in Action (GAs), Royal Ambassadors (Ras), cooking Wednesday night meals and those in need, and singing in the choir-just to name a few. She was a member of the local Red Hat Society, Kitchen Kats (a musical ministry), Creek County Republican Women (serving as President and other offices), and volunteered for Creek County Literacy, the Salvation Army Auxillary, and created Friends of Kelly Lane Park (a group of volunteers that trimmed trees and maintained flower beds. Sue and Mack’s home was always open to family and friends and they regularly hosted family parties, church and political events. The word ‘NO’ was not in her vocabulary. Her energy and work ethic was unrivaled. She could make just about anything happen with just about nothing, all the while making those around feel like they were royalty and members of her family. Sue is survived by her loving husband, Mack; brother, David Martin of Indianapolis, Indiana; three children, Cindy (Kevin) Swift of Sapulpa, Mark (Charlotte) McCullough of Sapulpa, Michael (Kristin) McCullough of Salinas, California; nine grandchildren, Emily Linfoot, Ethan (Rachel) Linfoot, Evan Linfoot, Lacey (DJ) Garza, Derek Swift, Everett McCullough, Clayton McCullough, Reed McCullough, Mason McCullough; and five great-grandchildren, Blaize Craig, Danielle Garza, Lily Garza, Jaxon Garza, Luke Swift; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceeded in death by her parents Eugene F. and Alma Martin, and brother Eugene F. Martin. The family requests donations to the Alma Martin Endowment Trust which Sue set up to honor her mother’s (Alma) memory.
