Aleta “Chubby” Lynn Watashe, 66, of Kellyville passed from this life Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She was born December 18, 1954, to George and Mary Jane Barnett Watashe. 

Aleta attended Monroe Junior High and McLain High School. She later transferred to Sequoyah Indian School and graduated in 1973.  She continued her education at Bacon Junior College from 1975-1977 and the University of Oklahoma from 1977-1978.  She obtained her nursing degree and worked for Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital for 2 years, Hillcrest Burn Center for 10 years and Grace Living Center in Glenpool for 1 ½ years.  When her health began to fail, she retired and moved home to help care for her mother.  She became her caregiver and chauffeur.

Aleta firmly believed her heritage and native traditional ways.  She enjoyed going to the Casino and playing Bingo.  She loved her nieces and nephews and loved watching them play sports.  She was a comical person and loved to laugh.  Her greatest joy was her family.  She will be greatly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents George Watashe and Mary Jane Watashe; siblings Sutta Mae Bryant, Kenneth Watashe, Ronald Watashe, Lou Ellen (White) Spencer, Veletta (Biscuit) Anderson, Lucy Watashe and Leatrice Sapulpa.

She is survived by sister Katie Bucktrot and special friend Warren Anquoe and a host nieces, nephews and other family members.

Wake services will be 7:00pm, Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Kellyville Indian Community Center, 18603 W. Highway 66, Kellyville, Oklahoma.  Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, October 2, 2021, also at the Kellyville Indian Community Center in Kellyville.  Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Kellyville. Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services in Kellyville, 918-247-7373.
