Adena Mae Nance Chapman, “Cookie”, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Adena was born on January 4, 1936, the 9 of 11 children born to Walter and Thera Nance of Temple, Texas. She grew up during the Depression and learned the value of hard work. Adena met the love of her life, Kenneth Dee Chapman, while attending Temple High School. Adena and Kenneth were married on July 29th, 1955 and moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. They were married 53 years.

In Sapulpa, Cookie and Kenny made a home for their four daughters, Sherrie, Linda, Patti, and Dena. Cookie enjoyed being outdoors and growing an organic garden, decades before it became popular. In the 1980s Cookie opened a ceramic shop. She enjoyed her customers and many became life-long friends. Kenny and Cookie moved to their Bristow farm for retirement. They enjoyed many happy and peaceful years at the farm. Cookie worked alongside Kenneth whether in his body shop, bailing hay or working the cows. After Kenneth’s death in 2008, Cookie continued to run the farm and worked behind the scenes at Isabella’s and Game Day Couture.

She leaves behind 4 daughters, Sherrie Curtis and Ric of Sapulpa; Linda Williams of Broken Arrow; Patti Wood of Bristow; and Dena Ware and Bill of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren, Vince Curtis and Sharla, Zac Williams, Andrew Williams, Micah Rice, Cadyn Rice, Heather Henegar and Darrel, Rocky Wood Jr., Rusty Wood, Christopher Ragsdale, Ashley Lackey and Greg; 5 great-grandchildren; Annie Ragsdale, Emily Ragsdale, Quad Henegar, Bentley Henegar, Gavin Lackey; brother, Walter Scott Nance, Jr. of Temple, Texas; sister, Stella Sosler and Joan of Crawford, Texas; sister-in-law, Rita Nance of Troy, Texas; favorite nephew, Dale Chapman and Becky; great-nephew, Shelby Chapman; Also a favorite niece, Lisa Scott; and great-nieces, Ashley and Jon Thoits, Brianna and Brittany Scott.

Cookie was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, entrepreneur, naturalist, and friend to all. She was loved and respected by all. Although we will miss her, we have the confident hope we will see her again in Heaven.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 with Funeral services following at 11 am on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 both at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK. Interment to follow at South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa, OK. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.
