My Table restaurant has permanently closed

My Table Restaurant (219 E. Dewey) has permanently closed, the restaurant announced in a Facebook post on Monday.

In a location that has become notorious for short-lived eateries, My Table stood out for its comfort-food-style menu and community-based activities, but at the same time became plagued with inconsistencies regarding service and hours. By the time the restaurant met its demise, they were only open from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

My Table Restaurant (219 E. Dewey) has closed its doors for good.

My Table was started by Elaine Wheat and Tracy McDaniel, with the intention of serving affordable, home-style cooked food in an inviting environment. They also began hosting monthly women’s inspirational gatherings, featuring inspirational stories from local women, a journaling activity, and a meal.

On Thanksgiving Day, My Table hosted a community Thanksgiving meal to anyone who wanted one, thanks to generous donations from local residents. Elaine Wheat said that day was a realization of a dream she’d had for ten years. Wheat said they hoped to do another meal before Christmas, but it never materialized.

Wheat said in a final Facebook post, “I am grateful for the opportunity I had to serve this community. Thank you for all the love and support.”
