The accident happened on State Highway 66 (New Sapulpa Road) just north of the 81st street intersection at about 5:26 pm, according to police at the scene.

Sapulpa police say the man, who was not identified, was traveling northbound on Highway 66 when he says that a car pulled out in front of him, causing him to slam on his brakes. They say the man jumped from his motorcycle, which caught fire as it slid to a stop.

The car that allegedly pulled out in front of the man did not stop. Police said there was no contact, and it could be that the driver was not aware of the situation.

Witnesses at the scene reported the motorcyclist landed in the ditch near his bike, and paramedics transported him to St. John’s Tulsa with what they say are minor injuries.

Firefighters were able to get the fire out, and traffic was closed in the northbound outside lane near the intersection for about an hour.
