Local boutique commits to donating a portion of sales to tornado victims

Sapulpa has been spared from the severe weather that has pummeled Barnsdall, Bartlesville and Sulphur over the last few weeks.

But that doesn’t mean that Sapulpa retailers aren’t helping out their neighbors in need.

Sherrie Curtis, owner of Isabella’s Collection (201 E Dewey Ave), recently decided to put two of her most popular shirts to work to help the victims of the recent tornadoes. Last week, she began a new promotion for her OKIE Radar shirts and her “In Trav We Trust” shirts; offering to give $5 from each shirt to either the American Red Cross for disaster relief or to invest them directly in the businesses from those communities affected.

The two shirts have been popular at the store for years, and always become even more so during this time of year. The “In Trav We Trust” shirt is in honor to News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer, who joined the News On 6 team in 2005. He has been a familiar voice to families in Northeast Oklahoma for decades during severe weather.

Curtis said that in addition to providing funds to the American Red Cross, that she would work to allocate at least some of the proceeds to local businesses in the affected towns. “We’ve been told that one way to directly help the businesses that have been impacted in these communities is to buy from them. Buy their gift cards, buy their products. So we’re looking into that as well,” she said.

As of Tuesday, a new way to purchase these shirts is now available, with Sapulpa Times stepping in to provide an online option for purchasing these shirts. The new Sapulpa Times online shop will allow customers who can’t make it into the store to purchase these shirts and for a flat shipping fee, they’ll be delivered anywhere in the United States.

The new shirts are the first products to be sold in the new Sapulpa Times shop. Sapulpa Times owner Micah Choquette said it was a great way to get the online store opened. “We’ll have more products coming soon, but I couldn’t think of a better way to open this shop than to do what we’ve been doing since we started: supporting the community of Sapulpa, and by extension, we’re now supporting other communities around the state.”

The new shirts come in three colors: Black, Ash (gray) and Cherry. They are available in several sizes and start at just $16.00 each. They are available for purchase immediately at Isabella’s Collection or online at sapulpatimes.com/shop. The promotion will run through Saturday, May 18th.
