More than 10 Kiefer High School and Junior High students have found their muse in poetry this semester, and it, too, is paying off.

Senior Lucy Miller and freshman Kalyn Venable each placed second in their age division in the Oklahoma Bar Association’s annual statewide Law Day competition. They won $75 apiece for their entries.

“Money’s a great motivator,” said English teacher Lorrie Quinnelly.

Other students will get their rewards through the publication of their poetry. Twelve were elected for publication in the 2018 Fall edition of Creative Communications’ A Celebration of Poets.

They are freshmen Katie Leigh, Venable, Taylor Dunn, Molly Dolan, Harley Hoskins, Sara Zamudio, Trey Turner, Elizabeth Geoffroy, Dawn Williams, Elizabeth Hicks and Riley Wilson and eighth grader Macey Parker.
