Anyone who’s familiar with Kiefer High School knows principal Sabrina Shaw.

She the blonde, usually in high heels, with a friendly smile and a bright, “Good morning,” for those she passes in the hallway. She’s a staunch supporter of education, an advocate for teachers, and a confidante for students.

So, when Shaw resigned as high school principal/assistant superintendent earlier this year, the news took the Kiefer school community a bit by surprise.

“It was personal choice,” said Shaw. “I love it here, (but) I needed a change.”

Junior high/middle school principal Cory Campbell has been tapped as the new high school principal, and the district has hired Jason Larremore as fill Campbell’s former position.

“The combination of how she cares about the students and keeps strong discipline is a rarity,” said Randy Buntin, Dean of Students. “Her commitment to academics, athletics and overall excellence of the school and welfare of the students is unique.

“Mrs. Shaw has made such an impact on the students and faculty here,” said English teacher Lorrie Quinnelly. “It will be odd coming to school and not seeing her, but I certainly wish her all the best as she tries her hand at something new. We will certainly miss her.”

Shaw’s resignation is effective at the end of the contract year, June 30.

“I have been blessed to have spent the last 13 years working for Kiefer Public Schools,” said Shaw. “I love the community and will always be grateful for the relationships I have built.”

Shaw is a graduate of Charles Page High School in Sand Spring and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education and a master’s degree in school administration from Northeastern State University. She also has completed her core work and post-graduate studies toward a doctorate in education from the University of Oklahoma. She only needs to complete her dissertation to be Dr. Shaw.

Shaw joined the Kiefer teaching staff in the 2002-2003 school year as a reading interventionist and moved to the middle school in the 2010-2011 school year. She became high school principal in 2013.

“We have the best teachers and students,” she said. “I plan on attending games and keeping in touch, but no matter what, I will always be a Kiefer Trojan.

“As far as the future goes, I plan on pursuing a career as a real estate investor and agent.”
