Jim Vogt, Scott Lynn, and Cliff Barnes took their oaths at the Town of Kellyville’s monthly Board of Trustees meeting last Tuesday. Though Barnes is not new, he was recently re-elected for another term as a Town Trustee. Vogt took resigned Trustee Ed Pruitt’s seat and Lynn took Trustee Bobby McGarrah’s seat.

Vogt, a former mayor of the town, was nominated to retake the mayoral position, and Lynn was nominated Vice Mayor. Russ Howard was renominated to be the Board’s Purchasing Agent.

Kellyville’s leadership has undergone several changes in the last year, with Tulsa attorney Andrew Nestor III replacing Clay Fees after Fees resigned, Shelly Garrett, Police Chief, also assuming the Town Administrator role, Robin Tiner taking over the Town Clerk duties, Lynn and Vogt joining the Board of Trustees, and Pruitt and McGarrah departing.

Jesse Brown, who applied for a temporary travel trailer with his wife for her father at their residence last month, spoke heatedly to the Board about his disagreements with the Town’s ordinance on the structures. Garrett explained to him that she researched the full ordinance after last month’s meeting and found the Browns to be in noncompliance. Though Brown vehemently argued his case, the Board deferred to the ordinance as it is written, which was signed in 2017 by Vogt when he was the Mayor. Voss and Howard apologized to Brown about the misunderstanding and Howard offered him his $500 deposit back.

Ultimately, Brown was given 30 days to remove the trailer from his premises and to find somewhere for his father-in-law to live. This was unanimously approved by the Board.

Four applicants were on the agenda to have their mobile homes approved. One was denied, one was tabled until next month, and two were approved.

One lot split was approved for an applicant and his wife who are splitting a lot they own and giving the halves to her sisters, who live on either side of them.

Budget issues were continued until a budget meeting on Monday, May 17th at 5 p.m. at Town Hall.
