Finally, Greg Morales, the slain Sapulpa soldier who was found in a shallow grave in Killeen, TX after being missing for nearly a year, is coming home.
As word got out earlier this week that Morales was going to be returned to Sapulpa, things have continued to progress at a rapid pace. Morales’ sister-in-law Destinee Wedel said in a Facebook post on Wednesday that they are expecting to get into Sapulpa between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Destinee Wedel says the route is to be from New Sapulpa Road (State Hwy 66) down Mission Street to Taft Street, where they will turn west towards Main Street, then travel south on Main Street to Green Hill funeral home.
Kim Wedel, Greg’s mother, says that Services will be July 30th at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Sapulpa (200 S. Elm), with Smokey Hurst officiating, followed by burial at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Green Hill funeral home is said to be coordinating the details. Kim Wedel says the service will be open to the public.
Last week, the Wedel family found out that Morales was going to be removed from the “deserter” list by the Army, citing “new evidence” from the Killeen Police department, but Kim Wedel said the army didn’t share what the evidence was.
