What does the History of Africa and the arts have in common? Come and explore through music, drama, movement and visual arts July 17-21, at Holmes Park Elementary.

The program is designed for second through seventh graders. Applications can be picked up at 101 E. Dewey or download from the Sapulpa Arts Facebook page.
Arts Explore! is a great community outreach for children to learn more about the arts, said Sapulpa Arts Director Sheri Ishmael-Waldrop. They love attending the classes and learning through dance, music, visual art, and drama.

“The Sapulpa Arts Camp is a great way for your child to express themselves through the arts as they explore culture and history of another continent,” she said. “Sapulpa Arts, with the assistance of The Oklahoma Arts Council and local benefactors, provides this experience in hopes of planting the seed of creativity and exploration.”

The activities are tailored to grade and skill level which encourages exploration and awareness. It is amazing what children can learn in one week of classes.
“The Family Night Program is the highlight of the week. Students are excited to perform a new dance and act during the drama skits, as well as show off their wonderful artwork,” she said.

If you would like to sponsor a student through our tax deductible scholarship program, contact Sheri at 918-224-0170 for details or mail a check to Sapulpa Arts, 101 E. Dewey, Sapulpa, OK 74066. Waldrop said they strive to provide an enriching opportunity for all students who wish to attend, but with the state budget cuts and downturn in the economy it is a struggle this year.

Sapulpa Arts would like to say thank you to Sapulpa Public Schools for hosting us again this year. Without the support of Oklahoma Arts Council and local scholarship sponsors Arts Explore! wouldn’t be possible. Through their support Sapulpa Arts is able to keep their enrollment fee low so that all students who wish to attend art camp have the opportunity.
