Creek County voters planning to cast their ballots by mail for the Aug. 25 Federal, State and County Runoff Election have until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, to request an absentee ballot.
Any registered voter who is eligible to vote in the election may vote absentee, and no excuse is required.
Absentee ballot requests can be submitted through the Oklahoma Voter Portal at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp. Request forms are also available on the Oklahoma State Election Board website at https://oklahoma.gov/elections or in person at the Creek County Election Board office, 230 E. Hobson Ave. in Sapulpa.
Creek County Election Board Secretary Vicki Martin encourages voters to request their ballots early to allow enough time for them to arrive by mail, be completed and returned before the deadline.
Most absentee ballot affidavits must be notarized before they are returned. Voters who are physically incapacitated, or who care for someone who is physically incapacitated and cannot be left alone, are exempt from the notary requirement. Those requesting a physically incapacitated ballot must instead have their affidavit witnessed by two people.
Military members, their spouses and dependents, along with U.S. citizens living overseas, may qualify for additional absentee voting options. Registered military and overseas voters may request absentee ballots through the Oklahoma Voter Portal. Those who need to register to vote should apply through the Federal Voting Assistance Program at https://www.fvap.gov.
Completed absentee ballots must be received by the Creek County Election Board no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
