Creek County Sheriff’s Deputy involved in shooting near Kellyville

A Kellyville man is in the hospital after threatening Creek County Sheriff’s deputies with a rifle on Tuesday morning.

According to an official press release from the Creek County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant to Steven Lester Yocham at a residence on 273rd W. Ave near Kellyville at 7:20 am on Tuesday, June 4th.

Police say that Yocham, 49, was wanted for several Protective Order violations, as well as charges of “planning to commit an act of violence.” His bonds were set at $275,000.00

CCSO reports that when they encountered Yocham at the residence, he pulled out a rifle and began threatening himself and the deputies. When he attempted to escape, police say that Yocham pointed the rifle at the deputies and was shot. Yocham was treated at the scene and then transported to a hospital.

His current status is not known at this time.

The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation was requested to investigate the shooting. The deputy who shot Yocham is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, as per CCSO protocol.
