Board of County Commissioners of Creek County: A request recommended for approval at the Creek County Planning Commission meeting last Tuesday to rezone a 5-acre tract of land from Industrial to Commercial District to extend an existing RV park was heard by the BOCC at its regular Monday morning meeting this week. The park is located at 882 North Division Street in Sapulpa. County Planner Wendy Murray explained that there has been no opposition to the application and that her office also recommended approval. The Board agreed that “this has been a good fit for the area and we compliment the owner on the work he has done,” before unanimously approving the application.
The Board will consider having County employees receive CDL training from the Oklahoma Local Technology Assistance Program (OK LTAP) at Oklahoma State University, at no cost to the County, saving around $4,500 for each training class for each CDL driver.
A change order for the Maple Drive project in District #1 for an additional 12,050 tons at $69.55 per ton, totaling $86,937.50, was approved. Stephens explained that he underestimated “the roughness and total number of tons” for the road, but that he is still within his approved $1 million of ARPA funds.
A bid to replace a fan at the Fairgrounds was awarded to Big A. Fans for around $13K. Fairgrounds Manager Jonathan Kieffer explained that a large fan was recently damaged when dirt was being hauled into the arena, hence the need for replacement. The company at fault will reimburse the total cost of replacement and installation and the new fan should be up and running in 4-6 weeks.
The use of $214,285.71 of County ARPA funds to go toward the City of Sapulpa’s Sewer and Water Project was approved. City of Sapulpa’s Public Works Director, Steve Hardt, spoke to the Board on behalf of the City, saying that the City has agreed to use $490K of its ARPA funds to purchase a 600 to 700KW Generator for their West Pump Station. This will help maintain water supply when power outages occur, benefitting roughly 30-35K residents between the City of Sapulpa, Rural Water Districts 2 and 3, and Sapulpa Rural Water. The Board agreed that “this is a good project and would benefit a lot of people.”
Sapulpa Planning Commission: A Specific Use Permit for Pride Truck Sales to allow the sale of big trucks and trailers at 8201 State Highway 66 was recommended for approval at Tuesday evening’s meeting. The location is the former site of Tycoon MotorSports.
An SUP to allow a Commercial Dog Kennel on West Teel Road was recommended for approval. The kennel is not new, but wanted to be compliant under City code, and breeds award-winning Boerboels (a type of South African Mastiff).
Both items will be heard by Sapulpa City Council at its next regular meeting on Monday, June 6th at City Hall.
