City of Sapulpa announces closure of golf course, playgrounds, sports courts

In an official release on Tuesday morning, the City of Sapulpa has announced the closure of its municipal golf course to at least April 30th, as well as all city-owned sports courts (such as basketball courts at city parks) and playgrounds.

The closure includes playgrounds at Davis, Heritage, Hollier, Kelly Lane, and Liberty Parks. It also includes the exercise equipment at Kelly Lane Park, and the basketball courts near Liberty Park and at Davis Park. It will also close Wiggly Field, Sapulpa’s Dog Park that opened in 2016.

Wiggly Field is now closed in response to COVID-19.

Park trails will remain open, but the city insists that all patrons must practice social distancing. The full text of the release is below:

In response to the continuing public health threat presented by the COVID-19 virus, the City golf course has been closed through April 30, 2020. In addition, effective immediately, all City-owned (or leased) sport courts, sports fields, playgrounds, and dog park are closed and use of any fitness equipment, playground equipment, or shelters within all City Parks is prohibited even if not locked, gated, or fenced.  Park trails will remain open to use with all persons required to maintain six feet of social distancing.
