In honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW), Central Tech Truck Driver Training (TDT), proudly announces a major expansion aimed at doubling the number of program graduates over the next two years to meet the increasing demand for skilled truck drivers.
“Truck drivers are essential to our economy, and Central Tech is committed to providing the highest quality training to ensure their success,” said John Thorpe, truck driver training director at Central Tech. “Partnering with technology centers across the state allows us to expand our reach and help more Oklahomans secure high-paying jobs in the trucking industry.”
Central Tech’s TDT program has demonstrated growth, with 375 graduates in fiscal year FY22, 382 in FY23, and 550 in FY24. With the expansion, Central Tech aims to increase the number of Class A CDL graduates to 750 in FY25 and 900 in FY26. The program also boasts a 99% placement rate, underscoring its effectiveness in preparing students for successful careers in trucking.

As the statewide program for Oklahoma CareerTech, Central Tech now offers truck driver training classes in 14 technology center locations across the state. These include Autry Technology Center in Enid, Canadian Valley Technology Center in El Reno, Central Tech in Drumright, Chisholm Trail Technology Center in Omega, Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City, Green Country Technology Center in Okmulgee, Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, High Plains Technology Center in Woodward, Kiamichi Technology Center in Poteau and Idabel, Metro Technology Centers in Oklahoma City, Mid-Del Technology Center in Oklahoma City, Moore Norman Technology Center in Oklahoma City, Northwest Technology Center in Fairview and Alva, Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City, and Wes Watkins Technology Center in Wetumka.

Central Tech’s TDT 28-day program is driven by a clear message: Get In, Get Going, Get Paid. With an average starting salary of $61,000, the program offers a fast track to a stable and lucrative career. The two-students-per-truck model ensures personalized instruction and extensive hands-on experience.
