Canyon Road improvements are getting closer

The Canyon Road project was part of the same bond issue that recently resulted in the completion of the new Sapulpa Animal Shelter. That bond was floated five years ago and Steven Hardt, Director of Public Works stated in the phone conversation on Friday morning that the bond was part of Unity 2025 and the deadline for an opening bid from a consulting firm, coincidentally, was August 30, 2019. Hardt said he expected to hear sometime that day, even though the City offices closed at 11:30 a.m.

The project road was scheduled to be improved with Unity 2025 funds near W. 91st Street South from Freedom Elementary to the City Limits (the easternmost edge of Ward Five, past Meadowside Lane at the section line.) From State Highway 66 (formerly New Sapulpa Road) to Freedom Road, the improvements are to be state-funded.

According to the Public Works Director, there is no design yet, but the funds are there for the designs.
