BOCC enters executive session to interview Treasurer Applicants

The Creek County Board of County Commissioners went into executive session to interview applicants for the position of County Treasurer. The position became vacant due to the untimely death of  Treasurer Don Engle in June.

There are four applicants; Jeff Sparks, Rick Engleman, Joseph Hale, and Brian Borden. The executive session was set to start at 10 a.m., with 30 minutes allotted to each candidate. However, the Board finished the preceding business early and after consulting with legal counsel, Andrew Goforth, the commissioners convened the executive session at 9:34 a.m.

The Board convened the regular meeting shortly before 12:30 p.m.

The commissioners tabled making a decision on filling the position of Treasurer until the July 31st meeting.

In other business, the Board approved the renewal of the following contracts for the fiscal year 2023-2024: City Of Mannford Inter-Cooperative Agreement; City of Oilton Inter-Cooperative

Agreement; City of Stroud Inter-Cooperative Agreement; Drumright Public Schools Inter-Cooperative Agreement; Kellpro Software and Service Agreement for District #3.

The Board also ratified the following contracts: Quadiant Leasing USA, Inc. for the County Clerk; Amended Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) for the Juvenile Justice Center.

Commissioners approved the alcoholic beverage tax allocation to be distributed as follows: Bristow $3,508.55; Depew $339.46; Drumright $2,114.38; Kellyville $841.62; Kiefer $1,806.31;

Lawrence Creek $99.94; Mannford $2,694.18; Mounds $769.77; Oilton $730.95;

Sapulpa $18,111.82 and Slick $124.72.

The Board discussed the yet unresolved problem with OG&E regarding cleaning up debris left in the right of ways by the power company’s contractors, as a result of the June 17, 2023 storm.

Commissioner Leon Warner said that OG&E Representative Alba Weaver who was at the last meeting, stated OG&E is possibly considering assisting District #2 in cleanup. “I will keep you updated with any additional information,” said Warner.

Commissioners passed a motion to let for bid: One or More 1994 or Newer Fire Pumper Truck(s) for Silver CityVolunteer Fire Department. Bids are to be opened on 8-7-23.

The BOCC meets every Monday at 9 a.m., in the upstairs meeting room in the Collins Building.
