Artists, have you created something unique this year? It is time for artists of all ages to show off by entering the 36th Annual Sapulpa Arts Rt. 66 Art Show and Sale.
“This event draws talented artists of all ages from the region and helps introduce them to an expanded audience,” said Sapulpa Arts Director Sheri Ishmael-Waldrop. Along with the annual show the 6×6 on Rt. 66 Fundraiser will help us raise money to pay for Arts Explore scholarships and supplies for art classes.”
This year the art show is hosted by Sapulpa Arts with the assistance of our title sponsor Tour Sapulpa, Stan and Jane Johnson, and Reed Architecture. We will be located in the Sapulpa Senior Citizens Community Center, 515 E Dewey.
The Route 66 Art Show will be held on Saturday, September 9th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The competition is open to professional and amateur artists of all ages. Art drop-off is scheduled for Friday night from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Community Center.
“Each year area artists are invited to enter their original works of art,” said Waldrop. “We have such a strong and varied art community in Sapulpa, Creek County, and Western Tulsa County each year I love getting a sneak peek at what our artists have created. I am always amazed by the variety and creativity presented by artists of all ages. It is truly spectacular.”
Artists may enter up to two pieces in each category, created after January 1, 2021, and that have not been entered in our previous shows. The judges will award ribbons and cash prizes in each category.
Adult artists, both professional and amateur, compete in the following categories: watercolor, oil painting, acrylic painting, graphics (which includes pencil, pastel and/or conte), mixed media, 3-D/sculpture, black & white photography, color photography, and graphic design/digital art.
The Young Adult artists categories include paper or canvas art in black and white; paper or canvas art in color; photography; and sculpture, pottery and 3-D/sculpture.
The Youth (ages 14 and under) categories include art on paper or canvas, photography and sculpture.
