Sapulpa is enjoying some great weather this Presidents’ Day as we kick off a short week after a weekend filled with some concerning news from the Sapulpa police and fire departments.
Sapulpa Police Close Highway Due to Hostage Situation
Sapulpa Police closed all lanes of State Highway 66/New Sapulpa Road at the 9800 block on Sunday morning after a medical call took a turn for the worse when a subject inside the residence barricaded himself in the house and refused to come out. Police found that the man had tribal warrants. He was apprehended and placed in custody. More on News On 6.
Fire on Hobson Avenue Causes Concern
A fire near the new high school, currently under construction, caused some alarm among residents across Sapulpa.
A shed full of fabric near a detached garage on Hobson Avenue caught fire and was quickly handled, but the large plumes of black smoke it created generated considerable buzz on social media.
Varsity Boys and Girls Win Against Edmond North
The Sapulpa Chieftains and Lady Chieftains both took the win on Friday against Edmond North with 1-point wins in the final minutes of each game.

On the Calendar: Price Mart to Reopen this Week
Price Mart, the longtime Sapulpa grocery store formerly known as Warehouse Market, officially closed to the public on Sunday, February 15th, with plans to reopen as a 10Box Cost Plus store on Thursday, the 19th.
The store became a Price Mart when it was sold to Doc’s Foods in 2020, and last year, Doc’s Foods was acquired by Harp’s Foods. The expectation was that the store would convert to a Harps Foods grocery store, but the company has now revealed it will be converted to a discount-based 10Box “cost-plus” grocery outlet.
According to its website, 10Box will stock “all of the national brands you trust and have our own Best Choice & Always Save private labels.” The difference is that 10Box prices items at cost, then adds a flat 10% surcharge to cover their operational costs and get a nominal profit.
“While you may see a few items lower at the other stores, we will save you money on thousands of items,” the chain says.
The new store will officially open with a ribbon-cutting on Thursday morning.
