The Creek County Commissioners met on March 4th, 2019, to accept the audit results from the Creek Co. Home Finance Authority for Fiscal Year 2017-2018. Commissioners Newt Stephens, Leon Warner, and Lane Whitehouse were present and voting.

Ralph Osborn, CPA from Tulsa, told the board that the income source of the finance authority has been declining in the past few years. The rent of the Election Board is the only income. Commissioner Warner said that the Drumright Health Department may be an asset that the County can deed over to the authority once the state deeds it to the county. This property is currently owned by both State and County.

The audit results from the Creek County Industrial Authority for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 were approved. Osborn said nothing “sticks out” except the $1.3 – $1.7 million that was received. This will be used to develop another industrial park. Greg Pugmire stated that we are trying to be good stewards of the money we received from the SeneGence transaction. The Drumright Industrial Authority has been making timely payments on the $220,000.00 loan from the Creek co. Commission.

Wendy Murray, County Planner, explained to the commissioners that a rezoning and lot split were approved by SMPAC and these properties are 10516 S. 49th W. Place, 10514 S. 49th W. Place, and 5049 Hilton Rd. Three tracts have homes on them already and this act is to bring them into compliance with county regulations. These items were approved.

Another rezoning and lot split was approved to change tracts from A1 General Agricultural to RMH1 which is Single Family Manufactured Home District. There was some opposition from neighbors who worried that there would be several mobile homes moved into the area, but

Murray assured them that there would be allowed only one mobile home per lot.

The next item approved was to buy file cabinets for over 300 boxes of Sheriffs Department files for $14,500.00. These high-density file cabinets would be paid for by the County Commissioners, instead of the Sheriffs Department because they will be attached to the building. Paul Farris, Project Coordinator, will inspect the job once it is complete to be sure it is done properly. Commissioner Stephens agreed that was his job to “protect the county’s investment.”

The next commissioners meeting took place on March 11, 2019. Commissioners Newt Stephens, Leon Warner, and Lane Whitehouse were present and voting. The first Item on the agenda was to terminate Bonus Building Care, the current cleaning service for the Commissioners’ Office and common areas of the Collins Building. Commissioner Warner stated “It was just not working out,” and that the company should be terminated for “lack of appropriate service.” The next item, related to the first, was to approve hiring the next lowest bidder, ($10.00 more a month at $245.00) which was Alliance Maintenance for the same job.

The Sheriff’s office asked to surplus and transfer a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria to the City of Beggs, and to surplus and transfer two sets of soft body armor (past its warranty) to Olive Volunteer Fire Department. These were both approved.

The next meeting is Monday, March 18th at 9 a.m.
