(SPS) — What’s better than one student being recognized for his or her values? Two students of course!
Two Sapulpa High School students won the Core Value Award for the month of April.
The award is given to the student who best exemplifies the values of Sapulpa Chieftains Athletics – character, humility, commitment, integrity, self-control, mental toughness, team, responsibility, honor, and service.
The winner is selected after nominations are submitted by the coaches and reviewed by the athletics department. In this case, winners.
Sapulpa Band’s Riley Groves and Sapulpa Chieftains Cheerleader Elizabeth Zlata were recognized for their leadership and exhibition of the Core Value of Honor.
“Elizabeth is an amazing young lady,” said Athletic Director Michael Rose as he read from the nomination submission. “She has the respect of her peers, coaches, and teachers because she is always respectful, hardworking, determined, honest, and reliable.”
“This young man is honorable in his beliefs and his integrity,” said Mr. Rose as he read from the submission form for Riley. “He shows respect, is a person of superior standing, and maintains a sense of ethical conduct.”
The Core Value Award is sponsored by Tier One Lawn and Landscape. Winners of the award receive a Sapulpa Chieftains t-shirt, a plaque, and a QuikTrip gift card courtesy of Tier One.
