While the snow was still falling, drivers and travelers were literally all over the place as the winter storm hit the area early Tuesday morning. Oklahoma Highway Patrol put out the statistics on their accident response numbers as those with the
Injury crashes: 59
Non-injury crashes: 237
Motorist assists: 170
By 10:00 am on Wednesday, those numbers had already begun to rise at motorists attempted to get out once more:
Injury crashes: 77
Non-injury crashes: 251
Motorist assists: 273
Fortunately, there have been no fatalities reported, so far.

One of the updates posted by the OHP included a sorry sight: boxes of eggs strewn across the roadway after an accident on the Will Rogers Turnpike. Thankfully, it looked worse than it was. “Only minor injuries,” OHP said.



Local schools already beginning to cancel for Thursday
Eagle Point Christian Academy has already called for a Snow Day on Thursday, and other schools are expected to do the same.
All city and county offices were closed today, and trash service was suspended for Wednesday. Church services that have not already been canceled are beginning to consider it.
Many of Sapulpa’s small businesses were also closed on Wednesday, although a few, like banks and pharmacies, opened their drive-thru services for a short time.
A high of 14 degrees in Sapulpa today, with an expected high of 18 on Thursday. More sun is expected the rest of this week as the temperature steadily climbs. By Monday, we could see a high of 70 degrees. Hard to imagine right now, but this is Oklahoma, after all.
