Sapulpa picked up 7 to 8 inches of snow over the weekend with the storm that started late Friday night and into Saturday, then intensified further on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
The line of sleet that Oklahoma meteorologists were concerned about mostly failed to materialize in northern Creek County, where the bulk of the accumulation was more snow than anything.

In fact, the precipitation was so light that it wasn’t even wet snow, but rather a much drier, powdery snow. It looks pretty, but not great for a snowman.
The benefit is that it kept the roads from becoming too slick to drive on, with most main thoroughfares reduced to slush. That meant if your car or truck had decent tires with good traction, getting around wasn’t too difficult.
The worst part about the weather is that the snow won’t be going away for several days.
According to weather.com, Sapulpa will reach a high of just 30 degrees today, and though it will continue to climb over the next few days, it may be later this week before we see the grass again. If not, we may still have to wait longer, because another cold front is expected for the weekend, sending temps back below freezing. No additional snow is expected, however.

Will school be in session on Tuesday?
All area schools were closed on Monday, with Sapulpa Public Schools opting for a traditional snow day instead of distance learning. The district says that maintenance crews are out plowing parking lots, and administration is evaluating whether or not have classes on Tuesday. “We will let you know as a decision is made for Tuesday,” they said.

City Hall closed, some businesses open
City Hall is closed Monday, as are most retailers, but some businesses, like CTX and Buffalo Beverage, opened for folks who needed to get out anyway. If you’re out and about, they’d appreciate it if you stopped by.
City Hall announced on Sunday that trash would not run on Monday. It remains to be seen whether they’ll be back to a regularly scheduled route by Tuesday.
