Many of the parents of current Sapulpa High School students will recall attending Woodlawn Elementary.
In the years before Holmes Park Elementary, both Washington and Woodlawn Elementaries were full of rambunctious schoolchildren eager to make their stamp on Sapulpa and the world. As time progressed, Washington would eventually become the Administration Building, and Woodlawn would become an annex of the Junior/Senior High. These days, most people are familiar with Woodlawn for its “cafetorium,” nicknamed “The Black Box,” and popular as a destination for civic and chamber events.

As part of the Chieftain Stronger High School Bond, the former Woodlawn Elementary will be demolished, along with the 400 hall of the main building. Thankfully, SPS is allowing a day of reminiscing for those who want to give those old halls one more look.
Walk Through Woodlawn is coming up on Thursday, May 8th, from 4-6pm.
The demolition of Woodlawn Annex over the summer will make way for site improvements for our new campus, including parking and drop-off/pick-up locations, an expanded band room, new water retention areas, and create room for future site developments.
While Woodlawn has served its purpose for many, many years, it has seen significant underground utility issues and roof issues.
If members of the public would like to walk through Woodlawn one last time on May 8, this will be a come and go event.
