Walgreens in Sapulpa to close in February

After months of speculation, Sapulpa will be down from two Walgreens stores to just one by the end of February.

There was a growing belief that the retail pharmacy giant might close the store anyway after Walgreens made the decision late in 2024 to close 1,200 stores over a few years, with the first 500 slated to be closed by August of 2025.

When Walgreens closed the pharmacy at 950 E Taft in 2024, customers began speculating whether that location was on the chopping block.

Those concerns appear warranted, as the store has confirmed its last day of operation will be February 25th.

As of now, there has still not been an official list of stores in Oklahoma due for closing, and although it would seem that this store might be one of the “underperforming stores,” slated for closure, an unidentified employee at the location we spoke to said the store was chosen at random.

Closeout discounts have already taken effect as shelves are lined with yellow and orange discount tags, and some shelves are already beginning to look sparse. Discounts vary among the different product categories, but as the employee told us: “there are sales on every aisle.”
