Vintage Rose blossoming in new location

After months of remodeling, the new Vintage Rose Boutique and Flower Shop at 1320 S. Main has opened its doors for business.

The location used to be a house, originally built in the 1910s, and then was added onto in the 1950s, and was a space that Vintage Rose owner Lisa Greene has had her eyes on for quite awhile. “I would drive by here all the time and see this house and wonder, ‘Why isn’t that a business?’”

Finally, she decided to reach out and get more information, but she hesitated to pull the trigger on making a move. “I thought ‘Oh, it’s getting real, you know,’” she said. But she did make the move and has poured the last ten months into getting the place ready to open. The change is remarkable.

The combination of wood, tin, and vintage decor, mixed with floral pieces and gifts, gives off a vibe that she calls “Recycled Farm House.”

“We had almost everything that’s in here,” she said. “I had it in my barn, at a friend’s house, or it came out of the other store.”

Some things draw your eye—like the tub full of mixed homemade soap chunks, that you can package yourself in bulk—other things she is proud to tell you about, like her design table. “I got that from Gallery Floral, in Tulsa, when they were closing. It’s made from a bowling lane.” Sure enough, an inspection of the table shows the familiar circles that would mark the pin place markers in a bowling alley.

Some things she brought from home because they made more financial sense. “I saw that sink, (at a store), it was $500,” she said. “I said, ‘nope, I have that same tub in my pig pen.’ I cleaned it out, and now it’s here.”

Lisa purchased the property in September of last year and painstakingly pursued a complete remodel over the next several months, despite horrible weather and theft, not to mention a pandemic. She said that although she had a five-year plan to stay in her former location at Heart of Route 66 Vintage Market on Dewey Ave, she changed her mind not long after she sold the business to its current owners. “I began to realize that I wasn’t going to be able to grow in downtown,” she said. “I had some things I wanted to do that I wasn’t going to be able to do downtown, so I moved out here.”

The result is a beautiful farmhouse flower shop that also offers gifts, soaps, or things you might need for a memorial. In addition to the corsages and boutonnières you might need for prom or a spring formal, she’s also trying something new: tuxedo rental.

Vintage Rose had their Grand Opening last weekend, which Lisa said went very well. “It wasn’t overwhelming. Some people would come in and shop for a while, and as they were leaving, another group would come in.”

Vintage Rose Boutique and Flower Shop is open on Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and you can see more of their inventory at vintagerosesapulpa.com.
