Join Creek County Literacy Program and Creek County OSU Extension on Thursday, April 27 at 5:30pm for a free, informative workshop entitled “Learning & Understanding About Salt and Sodium. The workshop is open to the public.
During the workshop, Family Consumer Science Educator Nancy Self and Nutrition Education Assistant Marie Gibbs will conduct a Make-and-Take. Participants will learn how to make their own low-sodium spice mixes. “Not only will participants be able to save money making their own spice mixes, but they will learn how to season a variety of dishes with no salt,” shared Gibbs. Recipes will be provided.
The OSU Educators will cover a number of topics, including ten tips to help you cut back on salt, reading and understanding food labels, and the recommended daily goal for consuming salt.
Learning & Understanding About Salt and Sodium is a health literacy outreach project of Creek County Literacy Program, the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, with funding provided by the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Seating is limited to the first 25 participants. For more information or to register, call 918-224-9647.
