(SPS) — Two 2021 Sapulpa High School graduates received national recognition for their achievements. The College Board recognized Leona Crowl and Tina Willibey with AP Scholar Awards for their performance on AP (Advanced Placement®) Exams.

Leona was named AP Scholar with Distinction. The award is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more AP exams. Leona earned her diploma from Sapulpa High School in May. She is attending New Mexico State University where she’s studying to become a wildlife biologist. She says her AP Biology teacher, Heather Florer, “inspired fascination with the natural world.” Leona credits Cross Country coach and Spanish teacher Debbie Williams for helping her manage being both a student and an athlete.

Tina Willibey earned the AP Scholar Award. It is granted to students who receive a score of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. Tina, now attending Tulsa Community College, was an accomplished member of the Big Blue band, playing in the percussion section for seven years. She also managed both academics and athletics, as a member of the Spanish National Honor Society and the tennis team at Sapulpa High School.
