At least one lane of Highway 117 was shut down yesterday after a semi truck hauling biosolids began leaking, leaving a long black streak down the highway during the morning rush hour.
After Sapulpa Times first broke the news on Facebook, readers chimed in, saying that the truck had been leaking at least until Highway 75 in Glenpool.
Originally believed to be asphalt, the contents of the truck was later determined to be biosolids—that is, processed residuals from wastewater.
News On 6 reported that the truck was a contractor for the City of Tulsa, and had been told about the leak “shortly after leaving the plant,” but never stopped to fix it.
The driver was cited by both Jenks and Sapulpa police for the incident.
