At roughly 6:40 pm on Monday evening, Sapulpa Police responded to a call of a train colliding with a vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

The collision happened on East Lincoln Avenue, where the railroad intersects just east of Maple Drive. According to police at the scene, the driver—a young male who declined to give his name—was traveling westbound and coasted into the the path of the oncoming train.

The driver told Sapulpa Times that his boot slipped off the brake pedal as he was trying to come to a stop at the crossing and his rust-colored 1989 Ford F-150 was struck by the southbound train, which came to a stop shortly after.

Officers at the scene said that it didn’t appear that the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed and that the driver was lucky in the result. “If that truck had gotten caught by the train, it could’ve had a different outcome,” one said.
