Tee Pee Drive-In, Sugar Llamas slated for April opening

One of the most highly-anticipated openings of the last several years in Sapulpa is finally becoming a reality next month.

The iconic Tee Pee Drive-In, after undergoing months of delays due to supply issues, is finally slated to open in mid-April, with a soft opening happening on the first of April, according to sources close to the company.

The Route 66 attraction features a fully-renovated digital projection system, revamped parking grounds, a playground, concessions, rentable vintage traveling trailers, and even promises to be dog-friendly.

The news comes on the heels of the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of Ozark Drive, a new stretch of road extending Taft Avenue to Ozark Trail, part of the original Route 66.

Meanwhile, Sugar Llamas is also scheduled to open on or near the first of April, according to sources working on that project. The gourmet donuts, ice cream, and coffee stop is expected to be a popular and welcome addition to what looks to be a growing downtown economy, and just in time for Sapulpa’s 125th birthday, which incidentally happens to be that same weekend.

Sapulpa’s quasquicentennial celebration will be a two-day event complete with a birthday party and live music and is rumored to feature attractions like an old-west-style gunfight in the street. Get more details on signing up for Cornhole and more on Facebook.

The event is the second of Sapulpa Main Street’s new “Kickin’ 66” committee for downtown events—the first of which is the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day celebration, which will also feature live music, food and fun in a family-friendly celebration of Irish heritage and culture.

“Shenanigans on Dewey,” will happen Friday, March 17th from 4:00-10:00 pm and the entire event will take place on E. Dewey Ave. in Sapulpa, between Main St. and Park St. More information on Facebook.
