Sunday Timeloop: Welcome to the time change, plus more of what you might’ve missed this week

Quick updates:

  • ☀️ Weather Check: Enjoy that warm weather! High of 76 today, with a low of 59, with temps getting into the 80s for the first few days this week before another cold front moves in on Thursday, according to Weather Underground.
  • ? Road Closure Alert: Route 66 is currently closed from Main Street east to Elm Street through the end of the year for the return of Sapulpa’s Route 66 Christmas Chute. The Chute opens on November 16th at 5:30pm!
  • ?️ Shopping: The streets might be closed downtown, but the businesses are not! Be sure to park and walk to support our local shops to help them weather the pre-Chute season. Be sure to check out Little Bit of Country, which just moved into the Westfall Building on Park Street (the home of Isabella’s Collection at 201 E. Dewey)
  • ?️ Get Your Tickets! The Jingle Bells Sweepstakes officially kicked off this weekend and many of your local shops are now handing out tickets for a chance at the $10,000 grand prize coming in December. Remember to shop local and win!
  • ? Opening next weekend: The Sapulpa Community Theatre proudly presents “Happy Hollandaise!” a heartwarming Christmas show featuring a hilarious story about what happens when a woman who just wants to have a good Christmas with friends and family is beset by burglars, a missing chef and a father with a hilarious head injury. Performances are already beginning to sell out, so get your tickets now at sapulpatheatre.org

Feeling rested this morning?

How’d you sleep? It’s the first week back to Standard Time, where we set the clocks back and gain an hour of sleep (if sleep is a thing you do), and brings that twice-a-year question to everyone’s minds: “Why are we still doing this?”

There’s a lot to be said for ending the time change, and on Friday, Senator “Cowboy” Blake Stephens filed the paperwork to bring it up for discussion again in February at the state level, but it turns out that making a permanent change to what is now more than a century old ritual could be a very uphill climb.
