The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
I really do love this time of the year. I have a job that calls for odd hours, with evening meetings and late-night emergencies that have to be covered for the news. It keeps me from my family more than the regular 9-5 would. So the opportunity to take more time during this time of year to be together with them is something I look forward to, and it’s part of what makes the holidays special.
Isn’t it interesting how collectively, as a culture, Christmas has come to mean a handful of things to each of us? And that those meanings get passed on to the next generations in such a real way? There are Christmas traditions I had with my parents that I now do with my kids, and being able to see it from my parents’ point of view is a gift that means more than I ever thought it would.
That’s part of what makes Sapulpa’s Route 66 Christmas Chute so special, is that wonderful feeling of love, sentiment and nostalgia that we’re creating for all the families that are making their way down here, many for the first time, and many others for the umpteenth time. It’s a real privilege that I have the fortune of being a part of the core Christmas Chute Committee, and helping to plan out and promote the events and make these Christmas memories for all the families to join in on.
This email comes to you from a very real address, so if you would, please take a moment to respond and tell me your favorite Christmas traditions that you’re celebrating this year. If we get a good response, some of them may be shared with our readers.
In the meantime, I hope that your holiday season continues to mean as much to you as mine does to me and my family. Merry Christmas.
