Good morning! Welcome to the Sunday Timeloop, the subscribers-only newsletter brought to you by Sapulpa Times that catches you up on what you might’ve missed last week, and helps you prepare for the week ahead.
It’s the first real back-to-work Sunday of the year, and I don’t know about you, but I’m thrilled to be here. There’s something about starting a new year that fills me with hope and excitement. I hope you’re the same way. We’ve got some new and exciting things we’re working on, and we’ll have more to say about that soon, but I wanted to clue you guys in on a few important changes we’ve been making at the corporate level.
I’ve got a bit more to say about some changes we’re making for the new year, but I’ll put all that at the bottom of this email. Now, let’s get to the news!
The news you need to know right now:
- ? Deconstruction efforts for the Route 66 Christmas Chute are winding down, and the final cleaning of the street is happening now, meaning that portion of Dewey Avenue should be open again by Monday, January 8th.
- ❄️ Snow in the forecast: Today will be bright and sunny, with rain on Monday and snow chances on Tuesday. Bigger snow chances are expected for Friday, where we could see at least a couple of inches of accumulation.
- ? Sapulpa Parks did an official rededication of McGoy Park (139 N Leonard) yesterday, which has undergone a $100,000 renovation, including bathrooms and a brand-new playground. Members of the McGoy family were on hand yesterday to cut the ribbon to the new park.

Changes we’re making for the new year
If you don’t watch the Timeloop Live or listen to the Timeloop Podcast, you might have missed this first update. Most of you know that Sapulpa Times has regained its independence after separating from the Sapulpa Herald in August of 2023. As part of that separation, the Times chose to give up its print newspaper, turning over its print subscribers to the Herald. From now on, the Times is returning to its roots as a digital-only news outlet covering the town that we love.
As part of that new direction, we’re working on expanding our digital coverage and things like this newsletter, which we hope to expand to more than just once a week. We’re also adding more opportunities to our readers and our advertisers. More information on that is coming soon.
Personally, I’ve made the decision to be more authentic by being a bit more expressive about my faith in conjunction with what we’re doing at Sapulpa Times. The Timeloop episode I did with Chris Holder talks more about this decision and why it was made. The reality is, that if I didn’t believe that Sapulpa Times was genuinely a call that God has placed on my life, I’d have given it up a long time ago. But it is, and it’s the reason I’ve decided to stick it out, but it’s also the reason that I’ve decided to be more vocal about Who it is that really runs this show.
My word for the year is “ask,” and last night, I was reminded, thanks to Sylvester Stallone, that “the answer is always ‘no’ until you ask.” So as we launch into a new direction in a new year, I’m asking, if you support us, would you continue to do so? If you’re a person who prays, would you pray for us? If you’re a person who believes in what we’re doing, would you share the word with your friends and encourage them to support us? We greatly appreciate it!
Here’s to a great new year!
