Strong winds cause power outages, topple more trees on Saturday morning

A bout of severe weather arrived in Sapulpa just before 6 a.m. on Saturday, bringing with it more wind, more rain, and more toppled trees.

In addition to fresh tree limbs coming down this morning, homeowners might be waking up to find their piles of limbs from Monday’s storm scattered across their yard or the roadway.

Reports of outages and damage are coming in from all around town:

OG&E is reporting about 1,000 instances of power outages in the immediate area.

Power is out on Scott Street near South Hickory, with the roads blocked as firefighters deal with a downed power line.

Somewhat ironically, there are snapped power poles and downed lines at OG&E’s station near the Turner Turnpike on Highway 33.

In Owasso, downed power lines are causing road closures.

There’s also been more severe damage in Skiatook, Claremore, Broken Arrow and Sperry.

Meteorologists expect more rain interspersed with sunshine throughout the rest of the Memorial Day Weekend. Northeast Oklahoma could see between 4-8 inches of rain in some places.
