Thursday, August 10, 1911, Creek County Courier: The Creek County High School at Mounds, Oklahoma

“The Creek County High School at Mounds, Oklahoma begins its third year on Monday, September 11, 1911. Here are reasons why young people should attend this institution: It is fully accredited by the laws of Oklahoma. Its graduates are granted a certificate to teach without further examination. Its faculty consists of college and normal school graduates. It offers a complete business course. Its manual training department is excellent. It offers courses in all the high school studies, in the Commercial subjects, in vocal music, domestic science, drawing and a review in all common branches. Its equipment is complete and up-to-date. Tuition is free in all departments. There are no incidental fees. For any information relating to the work of the County High School address the Principal, A. Linscheid, Mounds, Oklahoma.”

Friday, August 10, 1934, Sapulpa Free Press: Sapulpa Plays Bristow for Sandlot Title

“To play best two out of three with the first game Saturday. Bristow’s mighty ball club Sunday won the right to meet Sapulpa next weekend in the championship series of the the fifth district sandlot baseball tournament by successfully turning back Kiefer and Chandler with scores of 6 to 1 and 3 to 1 respectively…The winner of the series will represent this district in state tourney to be held at Oklahoma City, beginning August 24. Season tickets for the state tourney this week were placed on sale at the Reel Drug Store for the price of $2.50…”

Tuesday, August 10, 1948, Sapulpa Herald: No Polio Yet in City According to Noon Report

“…Dr. J.M. Bayless, head of the county health department, today listed a few precautions that can be taken to help forestall any polio occurrence. Fly control is the major item, according to Dr. Bayless as well as general sanitation. Peel all fruits to be eaten by children and keep them out of crowds and swimming pools. Parents, although urged to use the above precautions, are advised not a become too alarmed by the threat of one polio case…”

However, small business owners in the Sapulpa area can improve their profits through a program offered at central Area Vo-Tech. Small Business Management is a program area businesses can gain assistance in business management and planning. Good management skills usually mean the difference between success and failure of a small business, said Eddie Bayouth, coordinator of the Small Business Management program…‘Today’s business owner must know how to effectively manage inventory, control cash flow,and effectively hire, train, and manage their employees…preparation, planing, and managing gives a business a greater opportunity to succeed’…The program is open to all small businesses in the vo-tech area. The two-year program has annual enrollment and meets once a month for a three-hour session at the vo-tech campus…”
