Tuesday, October 7, 1958, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Willie Does it Again! Wins $100 in Drawing

“Luckiest Man in town is Willie Spalding as he received $100 to run his total from the Super Value Day Drawing to $335 last night. Willie Spalding, who seems to be the perennial winner in the Progressive Sapulpan drawings, went back into the lead in all-time winnings by virtue of the $100 he won last night. Spalding previously had won a $200 prize, and prizes of $15 and $20. With the winnings from last night, this brings his total to $335…just $35 more than Mrs. Bessie Baker has won (she won all of her money at one time when she hit the $300 jackpot…”

Tuesday, October 7, 1969, Democrat News: Payroll Checks Believed Stolen

“Creek County authorities were searching today for a Tulsa woman suspected of stealing 283 payroll checks from All States Utilities, Inc. between Sapulpa and Tulsa. Specifically, the woman is charged in Creek County with uttering a forged instrument and a $147 check cashed in Sapulpa. A district attorney’s office spokesman said the woman was employed about two weeks at All States and after she failed to report for work one day 283 checks were found to be missing…”

Thursday, October 7, 1993, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Golf Fees Draw Ire of Seniors

“Retired city employees are concerned with the Sapulpa city commissioners’ decision not to include them in  a fee reduction schedule for the golf course…The commissioners acted on recommendations from the golf commission and city staff to charge current city employees a $5 fee per 18 holes to play Monday through Friday or after twilight time on weekends and holidays. The golf commission recommended only a $1 fee charge for current employees and recommended retired employees extend the $1 fee as well…”

Wednesday, October 7, 2009, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Kiefer Moves Up Two Spots in Class B Rankings

“There are only five teams that have maintained perfect records through five games into the Class B football season. Kiefer is one of those schools. Thanks to their unblemished 5-0 mark, -4-0 in District B-3 play – the Trojans moved up to No. 5 on the ok rankings poll. The only four teams that separate Kiefer from the top spot are – starting with No. 1 Garber (5-0), Canton (5-0), LAverne (3-2), and Porter (5-0). Ryan, the only other unbeaten team in Class B, sits in the No 7 spot behind Davenport, who is 4-1.”
