Sunday, October 31, 1948, Sapulpa Herald: Sapulpa Band Stages Election Parady in Tulsa Friday Night
“‘Who will win the election?’ was the question left in the minds of volunteers and football fans by Sapulpa’s High School Band at Skelly Stadium in Tulsa Friday night at the half of the Will Rogers vs Sapulpa football game. The band presented ‘Once Upon a Time’ and the principal characters were ‘the little brown donkey and the big grey elephant.’…Able to stand it no longer, the drum major forced his way back into the limelight and maneuvered the band to form the letters: V-O-T-E…Maintaining the V-O-T-E formation, the band marched from the field playing ‘You’re a Grand Old Flag.’…”
Thursday, October 31, 1957, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Veteran Tulsa Police Officer to Speak Friday
“Capt. Larry Coulson, who recently bounced from captain to patrolman and then back to captain in a shakeup of the Tulsa police department, will give a talk to the Sapulpa Jaycees tomorrow noon in an open meeting at the YWCA dining hall. Coulson, who has crusaded for traffic safety for several years, will discuss the need for civic clubs and organizations to offer complete cooperation with the city police department so that traffic accidents can be reduced to a minimum. Coulson, in a recent shakeup at the Tulsa police department, was demoted from his rank as a captain but public pressure on behalf of the popular Coulson resulted in the restoration of Coulson’s rank as captain. The officer will be introduced by Sgt. Pat Patrick of the Sapulpa police force. Acting Police Chief Ray Sutton will be a guest of the Jaycees at the luncheon.”
Tuesday, October 31, 1978, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Line Break Slows Water
“A 16-inch water main running north from Sapulpa ruptured during the night Monday, leaving many homes in the east part of town without normal water services Tuesday morning Virginia Williams, clerk of the city water department, said the break occurred on an underground line located a mile north of Sapulpa near Frankoma Road. It caused some rural water district customers in the area to be without services for a time. The break also caused a loss of water pressure in the east portion of town. Water Department works began searching for the ruptured line around midnight, but were unable to locate it until about 5 PM…Dale Block, city manager, said city pumps were working full strength in an effort to fill water storage tanks and return normal water pressure to the customers…Block said underground stress due to lack of rain probably was responsible for the rupture.”
