“Local Business and Professional Club members will gather Friday night for their monthly dinner program at the YWCA. The evening promises to be an interesting one. Theme of the program is ‘Measure Up to Your Job.’ Under the direction of Agnes Davis, members of the Education and Vocation Committee will present a skit entitled ‘You Make Your Job.’ Guest Speaker for the affair will be Delores Schofield, former Sapulpan, now assistant manager of the Tulsa S.H. Kress store. Miss Schofield is also president of the Oil Capitol Business and Professional Women’s Club of Tulsa. Her talk will be along the general theme of the program, or ‘Measuring Up.’”

“A city-wide bicycle safety inspection and skill test conducted by five Boy Scout troops will be held. The clinics will be at seven locations. Bicycles will be given basic safety checks to determine if they are the correct size for their rider and are mechanically safe. Owners will receive a check list provided by the AAA Auto Club, listing items not passing minimum safety requirements. They also will receive safety information pamphlets. Reflective tape donated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will be provided for each bicycle, and basic riding skills will be checked if owners desire. Inspection stations: Community Action Program Building (Booker T. Washington School), Garfield School, Washington School, Jefferson School, Liberty School, Warehouse Market parking lot, and First United Methodist Church parking lot…”

“A recent string of vandalisms at Sapulpa City Parks and Recreations Department led to the loss of unnecessary man hours and funds. The total cost of repairs for this fiscal year – from July to October – is $1,180, all which comes from taxpayer dollars. In July, there were three vandalisms reported, two of which occurred on the same day. On July 11, the toilet was ripped from the wall and broken at Hollier Park, and on July 25, a lock was tampered with at Sahoma Bait Shop, while two sinks were ripped from the wall at Liberty Park. In August, there were also three incidents reported. On Aug. 10, the lock on the front door of the Booker T. Washington Recreation Center was tampered with. On Aug. 13, the sink was vandalized at Liberty Park, and on Aug. 20, an American flag was stolen from the top of the oil derrick at Heritage Park…”
