Monday, October 24, 1949, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Traffic Lights Ordered Today for Sapulpa

“Two traffic signal lights were ordered today and are expected to arrive here within 10 days for…Dewey Ave, City Manager J.C. Bumpus said. The lights should arrive within 10 days and the control devices are expected within two weeks. The city manager said the two traffic lights would definitely be installed and in action by the Christmas rush. Total costs for the two lights control devices and installation expense was estimated to run $800 by city officials. The lights are of the four-way, hanging type. One will hung over a single intersection giving traffic signals in all directions…The commission passed the resolution to purchase the two Monday…”

Thursday, October 24, 1963, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Band to Perform at Event in O.C.

“These ten youths will be featured in one number Friday when the Sapulpa Junior High School band appears before a meeting of the Oklahoma Education Association in Oklahoma City. The ensemble is scheduled to present the ‘Clarinet Polka’ with Sharon Baxter, Linda McMunn, Janet Hopkins, Kay Donaldson, Lou Stuart, Renee Tyler, Saundra Crosslin, Jean Childress, Sally Livermore, and Sharon Warren.”

Friday, October 24, 1986, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Carnivals, Houses are Planned

“Area residents who enjoy haunted houses, treats, and games are in luck this weekend. Two area schools, South Heights and Lone Star, are presenting Halloween carnivals on Saturday. The South Heights TAPS (Teacher and Parents of Sapulpa) is sponsoring a Halloween carnival from 6 to 9 PM. The carnival will be at South Heights School, 23 E Ross. Activities will include a cake walk, fish pond, make-up booth, dart game, and the Halloween favorite, a spook house…”

Friday, October 24, 1997, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Benefit Auction

“Friends of the Kellyville Library members Phyllis Slater and Sammie Sadler show off the hand-made quilt and matching pillows donated to the organization by Babe Gantz for the annual benefit auction set for Nov. 1 at City Hall. auctioneer will be Rep. Todd Hiett of Kellyville. The king-size quilt, trimmed in blue, features hand-embroidered blocks depicting an outline of each of the 50 states with its state flower and bird. The quilt is one of the many items donated for the auction, which will begin at 1 PM. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the library’s building fund.”
