Monday, October 23, 1916, Sapulpa Herald: Kiefer Has a Big Blaze at Early Hour, Today

“D.B. Linkhart, a Kiefer teamster, had the misfortune to lose his barn and ten head of horses by a fire which occurred at about 3 o’clock this morning. Included was a lot of hay. The fire is supposed to have been set on fire by tramps. No insurance.”

Friday, October 23, 1931, Sapulpa Herald: Activities in Schools Come Fast

“Activities among the students and the faculty at the Sapulpa High School are coming thick and fast these days, what with two district teachers conferences slated for next weekend, with Halloween and Armistice Day celebration just around the corner, with play presentation among students near and with scholastic week observations at hand. Sapulpa teachers will play important role at two district teachers meets to be held the latter part of next week at Tulsa and Edmond. The northeastern district will hold its conference in Tulsa beginning next Thursday and lasting through Saturday evening and the central district will hold its meeting simultaneously in Edmond. Sapulpa teachers are making plans to attend one of these conferences and there will be no school next Friday…Elaborate and expansive programs have been arranged for each of these Oklahoma district conferences…”

Sunday, October 23, 1960, Sapulpa Daily Herald: High School Band Finishes Second at OU Festival

“Sapulpa High School’s marching band finished second Saturday in the class B competition at the annual University of Oklahoma band day festival. First place winner in the class B competition, which included 22 bands, was Miami. Sapulpa’s trophy was presented to Lynn DeVore, drum major, during halftime activities of the OU-Kansas State game. Some 65 bands with 5,000 members participated in the annual event. Sapulpa and the other 64 bands were judged Saturday morning on their marching and playing ability during the annual parade in downtown Norman.”

Tuesday, October 23, 1979, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Chieftains Look at Title Shot

“Second in district, behind the Muskogee Roughers, the Chieftains, with a win in their next district game (against Muskogee) will be ‘on the way to state.’ With the 12-7 win over Bartlesville College Friday night, the Chiefs moved into position for the defense of the 4A-7 district championship…This supplementary interaction between the offense and defense, shown only in the better teams, used against Sand Springs Friday, and Muskogee, November 2, will put Sapulpa on the winning tack in the state play-offs.”
