Tuesday, November 14, 1916, Sapulpa Herald: Road to Drumright to be Completed at Once

“President Cantrell of the Commercial Club has a communication from President Hopkins of the Sapulpa & Oil Fields railroad stating that the road will be completed from Shamrock to Drumright at once, in accordance with the terms of a contract just left. This will be good news to the people of not only Drumright and the west side of the county, but to Sapulpans who desire to reach that side of the county.”

Saturday, November 14, 1936, Sapulpa Herald: Doctor Reports Theft of Narcotics From Car…Red Cross Drive to Be Launched Monday

“Dr. CM Driver of Mounds, reported to Enos R. Pickett, under-sherif, said today that on two different occasions recently, 20 and one-fourth grains of morphine and a hypodermic needle were stolen from his case in his car. Dr. Driver related that on Wednesday the morphine and needle was taken from his medicine case in the car while it was at Sapulpa, and that yesterday a theft was committed from his car at Mounds…Red Cross drive for membership and raising of funds will get underway here in Sapulpa and Creek County on Monday. The solicitation of memberships in Sapulpa will be under the direction of Jack Loveland, with county membership in charge of Milford Davis. Lester Katz is chairman of the Creek County Red Cross unit…In the Sapulpa drive, the local workers will meet at the Chamber of Commerce with about 50 Jaycee members designated to work the downtown district, PTA in the residential areas, and the Girl Reserves handling a tag day.”

“Liberty: William Elston, Woodlawn principal, was speaker last night at the meeting of Liberty PTA. In his talk on ‘stronger schools make a stronger America,’ he urged patrons to write their congressman and senators in regards to educational needs…Washington: parents of junior high students will attend their children’s classes for 10 minute periods a back-to-school night at Washington School tomorrow…Oakridge: the Oakridge PTA met Tuesday afternoon to hear a talk by Russell Rick, speech therapist…High School: regular meeting of the high school PTA will be held Thursday. Dr. EH Criswell, dean of the graduate school at Tulsa University, will be guest speaker. The meeting will be held in conjunction with back-to-school night, and will be in the auditorium, after which, class rooms will be visited by the parents. The budget and finance committee will have pie and coffee for sale at the cafeteria…”

Friday, November 14, 1986, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Sapulpa’s Christmas Club Accounts Down from 1985 Total

“The holiday season is approaching and Sapulpa merchants are getting ready for Christmas shoppers and certain bank customers are receiving their long awaited Christmas Club account checks. Most Sapulpa banks offer Christmas Club accounts to cliencts. With the accounts, a customer may make monthly deposits of his own choice to his account; the bank pays interest and watches over the money until it’s time for Christmas shopping. When November arrives, the banks mail out checks to account holders…Sapulpa merchants are also making special plans for Christmas shoppers. Several Sapulpa stores are having Christmas layaway sales and are participating in free drawings…”
