Tuesday, November 13, 1928, Sapulpa Herald: Rotarians Hear Ex-Soldier Talk

“An Armistice Day program was prepared by the program chairman E.B. Matthews for the meeting of the Rotarians today in the YWCA recreation rooms. Among those who appeared on the program was Aaron Morgan, who was in France at the time the Armistice was signed. Morgan gave a talk in regard to the feelings of the boys in the camps when they heard the great news. Morgan’s talk was very interesting and the audience could picture the scene in the camps when the news was spread throughout…”

Tuesday, November 13, 1951, Sapulpa Daily Herald: County Youths to Attend State 4-H Club Meeting

“Three Creek County youths will attend the second state 4-H club congress to be held in the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City, Nov. 22-24. Ronnie Banks, state 4-H poultry winner; Eugene Hall, Creek County 4-H club president, and also president of the Northeastern district 4-H clubs; and Lenora Gaasch, Depew will leave Thanksgiving Day for Oklahoma City where they will represent the county in the 4-H congress which will be held there…”

Thursday, November 13, 2003, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Kiefer, Bristow Awarded Grants for Fire Department

“Two local fire departments have been awarded federal grants to enhance their responses to fire-related hazards. U.S. Sen. James Inhofe announced earlier this month that Kiefer and Bristow fire departments were among those to receive the Assistance to Firefighters Grant. ‘These grants help provide the tools and resources necessary to protect the health and safety of Oklahoma firefighters and the Oklahomans they serve to protect,’ Inhofe said. Other departments receiving the grant were Catoosa, Lenapah, Ponca City, Binger, Stroud, and Sulphur. ‘These awards will be used to increase the firefighting operations, fund firefighter health and safety programs, acquire new fire apparatus, enhance EMS programs, and conduct fire prevention and safety programs.’ Kiefer’s volunteer fire department will receive $26,576, while Bristow department will receive $30,825…”

“The Creek County Cattlemen’s Association will meet Monday Nov. 18 at the Creek County Fairgrounds on Oklahoma 66. The program will begin with Associate State Climatologist Gary McManus with the Oklahoma Climatological Survey and the Oklahoma Mesonet. He will be discussing the long term climate possibilities. He has been with Oklahoma Climatological Survey since 1999, joining the Climate Information Group in 2000. McManus has B.S. and M.S. degrees in Meteorology from University of Oklahoma…Organizers said they need to have RSVP’s in by Friday for accurate meal count…”
