Monday, March 5, 1945, Sapulpa Herald: Sapulpa FFA Enters 17 Barrows in Snow

“After several months of careful feeding and grooming, ten boys from the Sapulpa chapter of Future Farmers of America are ready with 17 fat barrows for the weighing…This will be the second year for the Sapulpa Future Farmers to participate in this show. Last year Sapulpa exhibitors showed champion Poland, champion Hampshire and reserve champion of the show, in their first try at feeding and showing fat barrows…The entire group of 62 Future Farmers will be busy Monday and Tuesday morning cleaning out the show building, setting up pens, and preparing unloading racks, washing and judging pens. The showroom is located two doors west of Miller Sand Pump company on Hobson Street.”

Thursday, March 5, 1964, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Traces of 4-Inch Snow Go Quickly

“…The first moisture which has been recorded during March and combined with February’s 1.33 inches and the .51 of an inch of rain which fell in January brought 1964’s moisture total to 2.44 inches. The mercury failed to drop into the teens overnight as was expected and this, combined with the thawing which began early Thursday morning, cleared streets and highways of nearly all traces of snow…The winter storm pelted much of the state with snow, sleet and rain Wednesday. Tulsa caught 7 inches of snow in the heaviest deluge reported. Four inches of snow remained on the ground this morning…”

Sunday, March 5, 1989, Sapulpa Daily Herald: High Winds Cause Damage, No One Injured

“A portion of roof was ripped from the Booker T. Washington Community Center, Line and Gray, by high winds Friday night. The portion of roof covering the newly refurbished gymnasium received severe damage, but remained intact. City employees covered the hard maple gymnasium floor with plastic Saturday in hopes of preventing further damage.”

Thursday, March 5, 2009, Sapulpa Daily Herald: JROTC Cadet State Shooting Champ

“Sapulpa High School senior, Adam Sloan has been a part of the Sapulpa Marine Corps JROTC program since his freshman year, being team captain on the JROTC shooting team. Recently he competed in the National Marine Corps JROTC Shooting Championship at Camp Perry, Ohio, and took first place. Sloan competed against about 1,500 cadets from around the state, shooting from three different positions at targets 10 meters away. Because of his receiving the Gold Medal in the Sporter Class, Sloan earned a position on the Marine Corps JROTC teams that will compete against the Army, Navy, and Air Force in the National JROTC Inter-Service Championship at Ft. Sill Army Base, March 26-28…
