Friday, January 5, 1906, Sapulpa Light: Trainmen’s Ball Was a Success
“The big New Years Ball given on Monday night by the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Lodge No. 619, was a great success. Lucile Opera House was packed with people, all dressed in evening attire and ready for ‘a time.’ Every committee worked hard to see that nothing happened to mar the pleasure of the evening. The music was furnished by three Italian musicians, upon violins, and harp, and the mellow strains were sure beautiful. It was a late hour when the happy crowd dispersed. The best of order was maintained throughout the evening and all present were loud in their praise of the Trainmen’s method of giving a ball…”

“One of the latest motor car models on the market will be exhibited to Sapulpans at the Norval Motor Corporation sales rooms, 111 S Main Street tomorrow, according to the announcement of Luther E. Thompson, manager. The automobile is the new Dodge Brothers’ Six. The late auto model will be on exhibit all day tomorrow, and the salerooms will remain open for the day. This is the first time that this model has been shown and its exhibition here is attracting the interest of automobile men and motor car owners.”

“Jerry Canfield hit two free throws with 16 seconds left in the game here Friday night to boost his Trojans to a 47-43 win over rival Kellyville…Kiefer’s Tony Woodall and Kellyville’s Gene Walters tied for scoring honors with 12 points each. Canfield and Don Harlan of Kellyville shared an 11-point scoring mark, and Pony Terry Richie was good for eight points, as were Manuel Warrior, and Charles Adams of Kiefer. Kellyville played Kiefer in a man-to-man defense, and then came back with a zone strategy. Kiefer began a semi-delay game in the final minutes of the first half. The wins put Kiefer at a 6-4 season record.”

“Almost 100 spectators filled seats in the third floor courtroom of District Judge Lester Henderson this morning as the judge administered the oath of office to three new Creek County officials…Roma Lee Anglin, Creek County clerk; Bobbie Williams, County Court clerk, and Whitworth were officially installed in office by Henderson…Another newly-elected courthouse official, District One County Commissioner Dan Whitehouse, was sworn in after his winning bid last November…”
