Friday, February 21, 1908, Union News: The Watch Not Found
“A.B. Lake, a very prosperous farmer of Newby and a stockholder in the First State Bank of Bristow, is in the city today and related a little story that calls past events to memory. About two months ago, Mr. Lake was in the city and while standing at the depot waiting for his train one night a pickpocket got his watch. Officers were notified and gave chase. The pickpocket, noting he was about to be caught with the goods on him, threw the watch into a nearby pond and made his get away. The watch was found next morning by the officer and the bank at Bristow notified. This morning Mr. Lake came up to attend court and called on the Mayor for his time piece. When Mr. Lake called at the News office his watch was still missing, the officer having it not being located.”

Friday, February 21, 1919, Creek County Republican: Commercial Club After Frisco Branch to Shamrock
“Jim Boyd, chairman of the Sapulpa Commercial Club, was in conference late Tuesday afternoon with E.N. Adams of the Tulsa Traffic Association of the Chamber of Commerce, over a desired extension of the Frisco system that is to connect Shamrock and Drumright. The proposed line would be six miles in length and greatly decrease the amount of time necessary to go from Tulsa to Drumright. The Tulsa Chamber of Commerce is interested because, under the present arrangement, Drumright can be reached from here only by the circuitous route of Jennings. The Sapulpa element is interesting mainly because both towns are in Sapulpa’s county and there is a vast amount of travel to Drumright from this point.”
