Monday, February 20, 1911, Sapulpa Evening Light: Visited Sleepers at Y.M.C.A. Quarters
“One of the boldest robberies ever known in this city was committed Saturday night, when some thief walked into the Frisco Y.M.C.A. building and relieved sleeping railroad men of over $200 in cash and seven gold watches. The theft was not discovered until Sunday morning when the men awoke and began to make a howl for their timepieces. The investigation that followed showed that seven men had been relieved of railroad watches, valued at $50 a piece and cash aggregating over $200. One man lost a roll of $90, nearly a whole month’s salary. It is supposed that the thief came in at the door of the annex, where there is no one on duty and went through the clothes of the sleeping men.”
