Sunday, December 23, 1951, Sapulpa Herald: Early Christmas Service Planned at North Heights

“The North Heights Baptist Church will have a Christmas Day service Tuesday morning beginning and last one hour. The public is invited to this service. The song service will be led by F.S. Burgess with the opening prayer by L.B. Hurt. The testimony survive will be led by Richard Pierce with the sermon by Rev. T. Howard Allen. The closing prayer of the early morning service will be by Rev. R.L. Higgins.”

Monday, December 23, 1963, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Turkey For Yule Gotten Hard Way

“Through the ‘courtesy’ of Willingham’s Redwood Cafe, located north of here on Highway 66, some enterprising burglar will enjoy turkey for Christmas dinner. Burglars entered the cafe over the weekend by breaking out a rear window, taking a 12-pound dressed turkey, along with a small amount of change and cigarettes from the cigarette machine. Deputy Sheriff George Robertson said no other food was disturbed.”

Tuesday, December 23, 1969, Democrat News: School Board Approves Prattville School Bid

“Contracts for the construction of a new Pratt Elementary School in Prattville were awarded by the Sand Springs board of education last week. The contract for construction, $609,790, was awarded to Peevy Construction Co. Bids on the project ran from a high of $707,084 to Peevy’s low. The new 16 classroom facility will be located in Prattville on a 30-acre tract already owned by the school board. Future plans call for a junior high school to be built on the property.”

Wednesday, December 23, 1970, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Last Ditch Shot Saves Webster Narrow Win

“It was supposed to be a runaway, but Ray Reins and his band of fighting Chieftains didn’t see it that way. The Chieftains didn’t see it that way. The Chieftains rattled Webster’s Warriors through the first three quarters of Sapulpa’s first Green Country Conference basketball game here Tuesday before Don Harris’ last second score pulled out a slim 62-60 victory for the Warriors. Webster is the frontrunner in the conference and was a solid pick over the Chieftains, but a fired up defense which forced mistakes and turnovers in the first half gave the Chieftains full control through the first two quarters…The Chiefs were never behind more than three in the last quarter…Webster fired a quick pass upcourt and scored from the lane as the buzzer sounded. The loss was Sapulpa’s second for the season. Webster remains undefeated. It was a conference game…”
