Monday, December 11, 1933, Sapulpa Herald: Pawnee-Creek BYPU Meet Plans Complete

“The Pawnee-Creek associational BYPU will meet tomorrow night in Bristow in the church basement at 6:30 o’clock. The events of the evening will be started off by a covered dish luncheon…The program planned for this session follows: at 7:15 song service led by Clyde Smith of Sapulpa; 7:30, ‘We’re Glad You Came,’ TW Medearis, Bristow; 7:40, ‘We’re Glad You Asked Us,’ by George Wilhite, Sapulpa; 7:50, quartet, Sapulpa First Church; 8 o’clock, devotional, Rev. Noah James, Slick; 8:15, sword drill intermediate group; 8:30, inspirational address, TH Farmer, Oklahoma City. At 8:45, a playlet will be presented. It is entitled ‘The Choosers’ and will be put on by the Live Wires of Bristow. At 9 o’clock, a talk will be given by Lawrence Shiplett of Depew entitled ‘The Men Who Walk Alone.’ Business reports and awarding of banners will be given at 9:10. Benediction at 9:30 by Rev. Drake, pastor of Drumright Church.”

Monday, December 11, 1961, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Slick Roads Close One Area School

“A combination snow and ice-storm which struck this section of the state over the weekend worsened Monday and the weatherman said no let-up is expected until at least Wednesday. One county school closed Monday and officials at other schools were adopting a ‘wait and see’ attitude late Monday afternoon before making any decision about closing Tuesday. All Sapulpa schools were operating Monday, but attendance was far below normal. Schools here will be operating as usual on Tuesday. Highway patrolmen and city officers were swamped with accident reports, but most of them were of a minor nature…The lone school in the area to close was Kellyville. Supt. John Welpton said the school operates seven buses and it was impossible for them to make their route…Sapulpa school officials said enrollment…with the junior high reporting 268 students absent, at 9 am, with several buses yet to report…”

Monday, December 11, 1989, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Kellyville Parade Celebrates Christmas

“…Prizes were awarded for the best three floats in the adult and youth divisions. Adult winners were Kellyville PTO, first; Root Properties, second; and Indian Community, third. Youth prizes went to Precious Friends Preschool, first; Kellyville Indian Club, second; and Blue Bell Church, third. Theme of this year’s parade was ‘Pioneer Christmas’ with floats depicting a variety of old-time motifs. Grand Marshal was lifelong Kellyville resident, Dorothy Collins. Another celebrity, KTUL-TV Channel 8 weatherman Jack Bunds, also was in the parade…Judges were Creek County District Attorney Lantz McClain, Sapulpan Bill Wilson, and Kellyville businessman Ray Wilson. Coordinating this year’s parade was Terry Conley, Roger Tuttle, and Jean Reynolds…In addition to the parade, an arts and crafts show was conducted in Kellyville City Hall Saturday.”

Monday, December 11, 1995, Sapulpa Daily Herald: Teddy Bears Get Dressed Up for Christmas

“Teddy bears take on a special look thanks to the Ritchie grandchildren. The 18 grandchildren of Tom and Catherine Ritchie of Sapulpa spent part of Thanksgiving Day dressing the bears for the Dress the Bears Project with the Salvation Army. The bears are on display in the lobbies at American National Bank and Citizens Bank. The bears will be distributed along with food baskets by the Army Dec 22. Grandchildren are Jessica and Kally Ritchie, daughters of Mike Ritchie; Bridget and Jennifer Sontag, daughters of Karen and John Sontag; JP and Kaitlyn Ritchie, children of Pat and Linda Ritchie; Matt, Julie, Tracy, and Erin Ritchie, children of Liz and Jim Ritchie; Kelsey Ritchie, daughter of Regina and Kelly Ritchie; Emily Rithcie, daughter of Linda and John Ritchie; Josh and Whitney Ritchie, children of Tim and Cheri Ritchie; and Kristen, Thomas, and Scott Ritchie, children of Tom and Mary Ritchie.”
